Empire Team Talk – Introducing Nicholas Hart

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the newest member of the Empire team – Nicholas Hart. Nick holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wales in Cardiff, an Advanced Certificate in Financial Planning (UK Insurance Institute), as well as attaining an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) in Australia. Nick is currently in the process of completing his Masters degree in Financial Planning.

Arriving in Australia in 2006 after working in the UK pensions and investment industry, Nick spent the following 8 years as the General Manager of the worlds largest provider of advice and transfers of UK Pensions to the Australian superannuation system.

In that capacity he has assisted literally hundreds of UK expats with the tax, investment and transfer advice for hundreds of millions in pensions arriving to Australia.

At Empire, Nick continues to deliver specialist advice to UK expats, as well as assisting all clients with a wide range of strategic advice, superannuation, investment and insurance solutions, drawing on almost a decade and a half of financial service experience.

Nick has been called upon by a number of the major banks to provide services to their clients and adviser networks and has traveled the country delivering presentations and training.

Here is your opportunity to get to know Nicholas a little better…

What is your favourite holiday destination?

We’ve been to Singapore a couple of times and it works really well as a family holiday destination. Singapore’s easy to get around, the foods great and there’s plenty of water parks to keep the kids entertained. Going somewhere in the same time zone as Perth is also a definite plus when travelling with children.

Who would you invite to a dinner party and why?

It’s not very glamorous, but with most of my family in the UK we don’t get to catch up as often as I would like, so I would probably invite my parents, sister and grandmother.

What is your favourite pastime?

Golf, golf and more golf. I live around the corner from Maylands golf club and decided a couple of years ago it was time to take up the sport. Despite golf being hugely frustrating, I love getting out for a hit with a few mates over the weekend.

What was your first job?

Working lunchtime shift in a fish & chip shop when I was 16. I was paid £2.80 ($5) an hour and learned a lot about how hard you had to work to earn a couple of bucks. On the plus side, I did enjoy the free chips at the end of a shift.

What do you enjoy most about working in Financial Services?

I really enjoy helping people understand how achievable their financial goals usually are. Individuals come to us wanting help with their financial affairs and I get a real buzz out of using acquired knowledge to help them achieve those goals.
