Would you like Half a Retirement?

We came across this article in The West Australian, 22 February 2013. It wasn’t prominent, and it was tucked away at the bottom of the page, and it told us what we’ve known for years – most people do not have enough money to retire in the circumstances they’d like.

Baby boomers approaching the end of their working lives are the most affluent generation to enter retirement.  The retirement they are hoping for is very different to what their parents had hoped for before them.

The unfortunate reality is that many have, and are still, leaving it too late.

With the right advice, and enough time, we have seen many clients live very comfortably after the stop working.

For many most others though, according to the article, they will live twice as long as their money will last – a sobering thought for those who don’t fancy half a retirement.
